“One turtle at a time. One person at a time”

La Tortuga Viva (LTV) is a non-profit organisation working to turn the tide on sea turtle extinction by conserving native sea turtles along the tropical Playa Icacos coastline, in Guerrero, Mexico. A crew of 10-14 volunteers from the local community are active in the field, safeguarding Olive Ridley, Leatherback and Green sea turtle nests in the LTV sanctuary for their incubation period and then releasing hatchlings into the ocean. Since 2010, La Tortuga Viva has released over 500,000 sea turtles into the Pacific Ocean. Alongside Playa Viva – a Regenerative Resort – LTV applies holistic approaches to it’s conservation and community outreach, engaging in fieldwork, youth empowerment and social and educational impact work in the local  communities.
