John Ogden is Emeritus Professor of Integrative Biology at the University of South Florida (USF). He was Director of the Florida Institute of Oceanography from 1988-2010. Prior to joining the USF, Ogden was Director of the West Indies Laboratory of Fairleigh Dickinson University in St. Croix and Director of the NOAA saturation diving facility Hydrolab. He was a member of the founding Advisory Council of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and the Marine Protected Area Federal Advisory Committee and is the former President of the International Society for Reef Studies. Ogden served on the national boards of SeaWeb, Ocean Conservancy and World Wildlife Fund. Ogden received his A.B. from Princeton University and his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
