TOF Guide to the UN Ocean Conference 2022 


Co-hosted by the Governments of Kenya and Portugal, the UN Ocean Conference will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, between 27 June – 1 July, 2022. Playing our part in promoting science-based solutions to the many complex environmental and societal problems exacerbating the climate crisis, we will host and co-host numerous official side events. Whether you’re headed to Lisbon to participate in person or will tune in to the virtual sessions, we put together a list of useful information to guide you through these couple of days packed with insightful discussions. Ocean Science Capacity as a Condition to Achieving SDG 14: Perspectives and Solutions

This in-person event will offer critical perspectives towards achieving more equitable ocean science capacity throughout SDG 14 implementation. Leaders from The Ocean Foundation, The United States Department of State, Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique, The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, the University of Rhode Island Coastal Resources Center, and the Pacific Community will discuss what barriers are preventing equity and what strategies should be employed across SDG 14 activities to ensure equity.

The One Sustainable Ocean | Ocean Science & Business2Sea is one of the official side-events area of UNOC 2022, having been designated officially as umbrella event. Sponsored by Pingo Doce, through the initiative to preserve the ocean “Amar o Mar”, it is a free entry event focused on the ocean future, sustainability, circular economy, and innovation, totally aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life below water.
