La Tortuga Viva (LTV) is a non-profit organization that sits under the ReSiMar Watershed Regeneration Program, founded by Playa Viva.

La Tortuga Viva is working to turn the tide on sea turtle extinction by conserving native sea turtles along the tropical Playa Icacos coastline, in Guerrero, Mexico. A crew of 10-14 volunteers from the local community are active in the field, safeguarding Olive Ridley, Leatherback and Green sea turtle nests in the LTV sanctuary for their incubation period and then releasing hatchlings into the ocean. Since 2010, La Tortuga Viva has released over 500,000 sea turtles into the Pacific Ocean. Alongside Playa Viva – a Regenerative Boutique Hotel – LTV applies holistic approaches to its conservation and community outreach, engaging in fieldwork, youth empowerment and social and educational impact work in the local communities.

About ReSiMar:
ReSiMar is a holistic initiative regenerating the environment, economy, and community well-being in the Juluchuca river micro-watershed, an underserved area in Guerrero, Mexico. With over 15 years of experience in the region, Playa Viva has built trust and planted seeds of change. Together, we can ensure a brighter future for both the people and nature of Juluchuca.
