Dr. Nancy Knowlton holds the Sant Chair in Marine Science at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, where she also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Ocean Portal. She is a specialist on coral reefs and the diversity and conservation of ocean life, the author of Citizens of the Sea, and a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
