The Ocean Foundation’s Legal Officer Bobbi-Jo Dobush was quoted in science magazine Nautilus on June 7, 2023, in their recent article, “The Dubious Economics of Deep-Sea Mining”. She mentions that uncertainty about DSM’s effects on commercial fisheries should be factored into the economic equations of deep sea mining.

“There is so much uncertainty in the regulatory sphere. Depending on how they figure out all these holes in the financial regime, it might be a lot more expensive.”
