Cresta Coastal Network (CCN) works directly with coastal communities and local nonprofits and governments to design projects that positively impact community wellbeing. Our efforts improve coastal habitat health in a way that directly and measurably impacts local economies, while always emerging directly from community expressed needs and locally led initiatives. Our approach is collaborative, participatory and relationship based.
We are seeing compounding threats towards the most productive ecosystems on earth, threatening our food systems, polluting our waters, reducing protection for coastal communities, eliminating livelihoods, and destroying cultural identity, beauty and wild spaces. This is a time for generative, collaborative and creative solutions.
We have four working areas:
- Consultancies/ advisory capacity
- Coastal habitat restoration- coral, mangroves, dunes and seagrass
- Coastal alternative livelihoods- agriculture, marine protected area management, MPA networks, regenerative ocean farming models
- Endangered and threatened species protection- including migratory marine species research (sawfish and turtles)
