Our Mission

RISE UP is a global network of over 750 organisations from more than 67 countries, working to ensure that ocean decision-making processes and policies are shaped by the communities most affected by them. We unite diverse voices to influence and strengthen global ocean policy, creating lasting change for a healthy, just and equitable ocean.

Our Vision

The ocean sustains all life on our planet and is essential to human survival and well-being. We envision a world where thriving marine ecosystems support resilient coastal communities and where the people who depend on the ocean are central to shaping its future.

Our Activities

Since launching in 2019, RISE UP has brought grassroots voices into global advocacy spaces, built strategic alliances and co-created campaigns that influence ocean policy at the highest levels. Through our work we:

• Bring grassroots voices to global decision-making spaces – ensuring decision-making reflects lived realities.
  
• Build strategic alliances for stronger impact – connecting NGOs, movements, scientists, and policymakers.
  
• Co-create campaigns and share knowledge – uniting our members to drive change together.

We work across key priorities including:

• Securing a High Seas Treaty for Global Ocean Protection.
• Protecting the Deep Sea.
• Supporting sustainable small-scale fisheries.
• Advancing Ocean-Climate Justice.
