Nicole Ross

Communications Manager

Nicole returns to The Ocean Foundation as the Communications Manager, supporting external relationships for the organization. Nicole has been interested in marine life since her early years exploring the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, surrounding her home island of St. Croix. Having experienced the loss and devastation from numerous hurricanes, she intimately understands the dire consequences of climate change on culture, economies, mental health, and the natural environment. These experiences fuel her passion to protect our ocean and the communities that depend on it.

Over the past 20 years, she has developed and managed outreach programs, communications strategies, and fundraising initiatives for EarthEcho International, the Alaska Oceans Program, The Ocean Foundation, Lutheran Social Services of the VI, and the Disability Rights Center of the Virgin Islands (DRCVI), where she last served as the Director of Communications.

Nicole graduated Cum Laude from Drew University with a degree in History and minored in Africana Studies and Theatre. She went on to study film production at the Toronto Film School and earned a graduate certificate in documentary filmmaking from George Washington University.

Nicole is deeply devoted to amplifying the voices of local conservationists, scientists, and community stakeholders from around the world.
