Deciding he wanted a change, Stéphane began looking for a job in a cause-related organization. He soon joined a humanitarian organization, Télécoms Sans Frontières, during the Kosovo War. Stéphane worked there for almost 5 years, conducting more than 30 emergency missions as the Head of Operations and Development.
In 2003, he left TSF and joined Surfrider Foundation Europe as the CEO. During Stéphane’s years as head of the organization Surfrider became a leading environmental NGO in Europe, winning major victories in ocean conservation. At the same time, Stéphane contributed actively to the creation of the Ocean and Climate Platform, which managed to obtain for the first time the integration of the ocean in the text of the climate agreement at COP21 in Paris. Since 2018, Stéphane has worked as an independent consultant supporting multiple cause-related projects. Stéphane is also still a member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council to the Aquitaine Region in France and sits on the board of various NGOs and Funds working in the field of ocean conservation, environmental protection, and social economy, including: ONE and Rip Curl Planet Fund, World Surfing Reserve Vision Council, and 1% for the Planet, France.
