Our Vision
is to create leaders who use science, technology, and international teamwork to tackle global conservation issues.
Our Mission
is to train the next generation to become scientifically literate, international team players through our two-month hands-on field research internships at sea turtle research sites in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Major program successes to date:
- Over half of our 55 interns have presented at conferences or published their research
- All of our students are on track or have completed undergraduate degrees, with many going to graduate or medical school
- Around 80% of our interns received partial or full scholarships
- Over 60% of our interns are female and around 30% are minorities
- Interns characterized and removed over 18,000 pieces of trash from sea turtle nesting beaches
- We have released about 250,000 sea turtle hatchlings
- We have helped 12 sea turtle organizations and partners collect valuable data
- We taught 420 middle school students science and conservation lessons through our Bridge the Border program.
