Shape the Future of Sustainable Seafood

It is with great excitement that we join leaders from around the world in Malta for this year’s SeaWeb Seafood Summit. The 2016 Summit marks the first year of The Ocean Foundation’s new collaboration with SeaWeb.  We joined forces to increase the impact and effectiveness of SeaWeb’s programs, and to deepen The Ocean Foundation’s work on sustainable seafood.

Between February 1st-3rd, global representatives from the seafood industry, together with leaders from the conservation community, academia, government and the media will gather to discuss the biggest issues facing seafood sustainability, from IUU to ocean acidification. We enter this year’s Summit with the same goal SeaWeb has championed for twenty years: A drive to find sustainable solutions for farmed and wild caught seafood, and to facilitate collaboration between business leaders, policy makers, conservation groups, media and scientists to uncover and implement these solutions. Critical to achieving this goal is creating the space for collaborative thought leadership. The Seafood Summit has been, and will continue to be, that critical platform for advancing sustainable seafood.

From improving traceability in seafood, to assuring human rights are respected through the seafood supply and production chain, to helping catalyze market forces to drive innovation in seafood sustainability, there is a lot of work to be done.
